| Need advise/help on male marking... Hi, I have a female and male yorkie and my question is, is it true that if female is about to go in heat the male will go and mark? Cuz for some odd reason my male is marking everywhere in the house. And his pretty good not peeing everywhere (he usually held it til he went outside). But about a wk or so he has been marking everyday. By the way my female is NOT in heat. But I think she might be getting it soon. Last yr she had it in sometime in Nov so I am assuming that she will be in heat soon. Could this be the reason why he is marking everywhere?? Can male dogs sense that female will be in heat soon?? Thank u in advance

| YEAP Lexi just finished her heat cycle. I didn't let them mate this time. Scruffy started smelling her & humping her about 1 wk before she came into heat. He marks all over the house at this time. I use Belly Bands on him when the girls are in Heat. The girls use a diaper. Plus it is double protection when I don't want them mate. I bought mine from YT member Tiger's Mom at go fetch http://go.fetch.home.comcast.net/~go.fetch/

| An unneutered male will be prone to marking whether there is a female in heat or not, but it will be even more pronounced if she is in heat. I use a belly band on my male and it works like a charm. I recently purchased some from go.fetch.com, and was very pleased!

The only reason why I am asking all the question is cuz he was still potty training at that time (1st heat) so he did mark everywhere. But when he got older he stopped marking, for about a yr, now he just started back marking again. So I thought maybe cuz she might go into heat..

| It is VERY hard to get an unaltered male to not mark in the house. Some will not, but most will. Around a year they mature and for us ours started at a year and have yet to stop. The joys of owning a stud dog. We use belly bands and yes they will potty in them. Make sure to change the pad regularly and to keep the area clean or they may get a rash.

| Like I was told...once you use them as a stud, there is no going back. Belly bands are the solution! |
