| Naming puppies Do you name your pups even if you intend on selling them all? I wasn't sure about this - I thought that naming them would confuse them when they finally go home with their owners. I mean, isn't it up to the owner to name them? Secondly, I thought it would be harder on myself and the kids if we named him and had to let him go eventually. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | I named Lexie's four puppies....didn't want to have to call them by "Puppy!" for the next 10-12 weeks. I have no doubt they will adjust to their new names when they go to their forever homes, quite easily. And probably more often than not, I will be using the names I give them when speaking OF them more than when I speak TO them.

| I don't.... I consider it something special between the two (also makes it harder to part ways for me) but I do ask the owner so I can start calling him/her by his/her name. I don't like referring to the puppy as hey you lol. So I will do a general name for each one. Such as baby girl, Teddy bear, little man, I try not to be too specific. |

| Here's how it goes around here, my 2 grand d's Gracie (6) & Izzy (4) are in charge of naming the puppies. We've had Rainbow and Boots & Spike and Pumpkin. Rainbow stayed Rainbow, Boots became Tyler, Spike became Nicky then Chewy & Pumpkin is now Sophie Sunshine. They seem to learn the voice faster than the name and will come running whatever you call them.

BANNED! | We name ours and when I take deposits on them I ask the new owners what they are going to call them if they have named them yet. Then I start calling them by their new names and it works fine for us. |

| Some litters I named, like my first litter their names were Beamer, Harvey ( I kept for my show dog), and Gordo....Beamer's new owners kept Beamer's name and Gordo became Little Ricky (yuck) LOL. Second litter we had 4 and I named one and it was Peabody and his new forever home kept the name Mr. Peabody LOL reason for naming him that was because everytime you picked him up he peed on you LOL and I kept a female and her name was Krissy. The others were named by their new owners. The 3rd litter all named their own and I kept one and then placed her and her name was Lexi and they kept the name....This last litter are Molly and Dolly they will be 6 months in Dec when I decide to place one they will be registered already so I'm sure the name will stay ( I hope ) Both names fit each girl! | See, I only have the one and I don't need to identify him. I thought about naming him because I LOVE the name Morgan, but I don't want myself and the kids to become all attached and instead of giving away "Juliet's puppy" we'd be giving away "Morgan". |

| We named the last litter and we did OK with it. You get super attached no matter what. Last time my kids named them after mice. This time they used "Little Mermaid" names. They were so excited for an Ariel and Ursala, but we got all boys!! So it is Flounder and Sebestain! Your gonna cry when he goes no matter what!! (well I did and I'm sure I will again)
