I'm not 5!

I've been thinking about what my pet peeves are lately, and the last few days I've discovered that more than ANYTHING I cannot stand it when people treat me like I'm 5. and I don't mean people who call me hunny or stuff like that...because I like that.

I mean people who think that they are better than young people because they're older and they've experienced more.

I know, I know, I haven't exactly been around that long. But I'm not a baby, either. I do have a functioning brain, I am able to carry on intelligent conversations with people.

My history teacher does this...treats me like I'm 5, I mean. not just me - all of the kids in my grade. SERIOUSLY. We have experienced SOME things in our lives (however short they may have been so far).

As far as I know, I'm a fully evolved human being - not an ape. I hate being talked down to like I don't understand English. If you have something to say to me, then by all means say it, and expect a response. I love debating with people as long as I'm treated like a PERSON not like some mindless teenage idiot who is guy-crazy and parties all the time. I'm always told to enjoy being a kid while I can. You see, I'd love to, except that I constantly feel the need to act more like an adult than a kid BECAUSE of people who see a teenager and immedietly think I'm up to no good.

Let me just say one thing: I do not now, nor have I ever, thought that I know everything. NO ONE knows everything, though some people seem to think they do. If you don't like or get along with teenagers, that's fine, I don't care. But don't talk down to me because I'm younger than you, I mean - REALLY.

*phew* Thank you guys. I had a rough day today with this subject. I'm SO sick of being treated like a baby. And I'm not talking about my parents haha.

I'm better now. This blog thing comes in handy!

I have to agree with you I get treated like I am five sometimes and everyone knows that I am 19 not really a kid still but not an adult either. I don't claim to know everything either but I have made better decisions with my life than some adults I know. I wish people would not judge a person by their age but by how they present themselves, as mature beings. I know 30 something people who believe that their grandparents have nothing to do with how their child may look, I tell them go back to school they get mad lol sorry for my rant. But I sooo know where you are coming from! Great blog.

	Awww, hon, don't be hatin' us mature adults! :P Megan, since I met you when you were 12, you have been one of the most mature people I know. You are a voice of reason when YT gets nutty, and I've learned as much or more from you than I have from anyone else in my life. You rock. I know it. You (should) know it. And that's all that matters. You're still my favorite brat, though.

	I agree, even through you are young, you have always acting so much more mature then your years. Some people are just like that. I have a neighbor, who is the president of our home owners assoc. He is younger then I and he talks down to me, I hate it, but try my hardest to ignore it.
