Morgan scared mommy half to death today.

Posted 04-14-2008 at 02:19 PM by kalina82
First blog on YT!

So Morgan decided to wake me up at 3am this morning with her reverse sneezing. She actually woke me up because she was so loud! So I give her a little pat on the back, tell her its ok and to calm down. She responds by doing it faster. So I turn on the lights to check her color, still pink thank god. I try holding my finger over her nose, rubbing her throat, coupaging her chest, and giving her a treat. Nothing worked. This continued for a HALF HOUR. that's the longest she's gone on with this. I was just about to get out of bed and rush her to work when it finally started to subside. Thank god. I think I might have caused a scene at work with me running in there in my kitty flannel pants and wife beater tank top.

She's been good all day today with no episodes so hopefully it won't happen again.

awe, poor lil girlie. Hopefully you both get a good nights rest tonight and she sleeps right through the night for you. I wonder what actually causes this?

Eddie did that to us the other night. I was so certain it was something serious that I took him to the vet the next day and asked if it was kennel cough. Nope. And he didn't cough at all while at the vet's so he couldn't diagnose it. It eventually went away.

Have you tried sticking your finger in their mouth and getting her to swallow? I've had good luck with getting that to stop it.

yup, tried everything i could think of. fingers in the mouth, covering her nose, feeding her, blowing up her nose, massaging her throat, tapping on her chest, etc... nothing worked, that's when i began to panic a little.

We had a good night last night. no problems. yay

I hope Morgan will be okay. I know the feeling of worrying all too well and it's horrible. I remember Samie's first attack and how worried it made me for weeks and weeks. Like as if I was waiting for another attack to happen again. I freak out whenever she has one. I have noticed that when she lays in her little bed and her neck is raised up a little on the edge of the bed-instead of if she was laying flat on the floor. (she loves a little blanket rolled up for a pillow under her chin :-) oh btw she also owns every blanket in this house :-)
But with her chin raised up slightly she doesn't get any draining that makes her cough. Samie has bad allergies. I always know when she will have a bad coughing episode because her nose is runny and her eyes are watery.

Did Morgan do any coughing or did she try to clear her throat? Did she inhale anything that could have triggered that attack? Hairspray or even dust is bad. Our vet said that we could get an air cleaner and it would help. I do want to get one eventually I think we all could benefit from having one.

Morgan- No more scaring Mommy!!
I tell ya, my girls and the worrying that I have done since last June... I'm sure I am forming ulcers by now :-)

we are dropping off urine this morning for a upc check on Sadie. last upc was 7.3! The urine is not as yellow as it was her last test so againg... I am worried. when her urine was a darker yellow a few months ago her upc had lowered to 1.9 but now her upc is increasing again. we will find out what it is today.
