Posted 04-14-2008 at 08:53 PM by Beabble I've been so tired lately & actually fell asleep early tonight as did Maggy. I was sleeping so soundly when my cell phone rang, I jumped out of bed and ran & picked it up, when someone calls me that time of night I think somethings very wrong. Here it was Jess (my daughter) she has her own cottage that is hooked onto our house. All could hear her say was, MOM, SOMTHINGS OUTSIDE, I THINK IT HAS SQUEEKER! Squeeker is a stray cat we've been taking care of since last summer, almost a whole year now. I've tried putting her in a crate on more than one occasion so that I can take her to the vet to be looked at but she won't have any part of that, she's never let any of us pick her up, but she does love to be petted. Something tore into Squeeker a few nights ago and she has a big 2 to 2 1/2 inch wound on her back by her tail. It looks terrible but I know from past experience she WILL NOT let me pick her up and get her to the vet. I was able to mix up a solution and pour over the wound to clean it, but then the temps dropped down so very low the past three days that I haven't done that cause I don't want her to get bad sick from being wet in this cold weather. I went to the vet though and picked up antibiotics for her so that I can give it to her twice a day in hopes that it'll keep the wound from getting infected and it'll heal up. Boy when I opened the back door and got out off the back porch, my heart was pounding so hard and so fast, all I could thing was OMG, Squeeker, where are you! I started yelling frantically and there she was, walking out from under the front porch where she has a bed with a bunch of comforters in there and straw surrounding her container to keep the wind and temps out. I was so scared something had gotten her. Whatever it was, it sounded aweful, I sure hope it wasn't another cat back in the woods getting attacked by something. Finally it stopped but then I could here a squeeling, it was Maggy May, she was in her kennel in my bedroom and woke up when I left the bedroom, boy, talk about a FIT!! I don't know what sounded more terrible, the sound I heard outside or Maggy squeeling for me to come back in. She's a bit spoiled I think, if I leave the room she's in and she can't follow me, oh boy, does everyone in the house hear about it! I love her though, she's my lil girlie and I wouldn't give her up for the world. Her and Luke played hard today and now that I'm back in here, she's back out like a light. Sweet dreams Lil Miss Maggy May.... |
