YT 1000 Club Member | Pit bull saves woman ... After reading so many stories (in the past two weeks) of large breed dogs harming and even killing people, this is such an uplifting story. Unfortunately Lilly will need an amputation but she SAVED her "mom" ... another test of love and loyalty. Hero pit bull pulls owner from train tracks in life-saving rescue - NY Daily News

As a child I was bitten by dogs at least 4 times and still have the scars. Each time the experience was traumatic but my love for dogs was too strong to keep me away :-)

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh, that precious kiddo. What a smart, loving furbaby. Her owner is so lucky; I hope her owner can heal her own issues so she can spend her time lovin' up Lilly.

| Poor sweet Lilly did a heroic job!!! What a clever girl to sense the terrible danger & know what to do - and be strong enough & determined enough to do it despite that oncoming "monster" she must have feared from the sight & sounds of the approaching train. And now she's in such terrible shape. I pray she makes a full recovery and the woman she saved can struggle back to health herself and they can make a good life together. Makes you cry to think what horrible things breeding for aggression has done to so many of this breed.

Senior Yorkie Talker | SOOO CUTE! I love pit bulls, of course the TRUE pit bulls (loving, loyal, and silly) Properly socialized they are love muffins. I have one pit bull now, and recently had to put down my other at the age of 14 R.I.P. Another sweet story of a police dog pit bull: |

| What a sweet story... I hope she healed up and is safe with her owner. This is proof that not all pits are bad. What a hero!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What a smart dog, I'm so sorry this happened. I wonder if mom will stop drinking because of this, if not I hope son takes the dog.

| I'm sure they're good dogs, but after seeing the aftermath they left in my mom's home I can't say I support them as a family pet. Maybe for someone out in the country or without children and small animals, just not in a densely populated area. |

| There are some good ones with good owners but the frightening reality is so many have very bad genetic lineage with fighters/over-aggression emphasized and some of those tend to go postal and sustain attacks until death. Unless I could find one from a breeder who opened her breeding books to me or somehow I could know I was getting one without even the possibility of a recessive over-aggression/fighting genetic heritage of even one dog, I will just have to want one. I doubt any breeder of pits could satisfy/overcome my worry. The last thing I want is a dog in my home that could come after me or Tibbe. But the good ones are beautiful and good animals. I'll bet we can none of us that haven't been through it ever know what it is like to lose family members due to the bully Pitbull type breed, which has such a recent history of attacks that kill & maim, once they became popular in the dog fighting circles. Before that, you never heard of them being any more violent than any type breeds or mixes.
