| Help needed Our township committee / not our towns people have voted to cull (kill) the geese in our town. Their plans are to wait until around August during molting season when the Geese are the most vulnerable / unable to fly and then pay the USDA $6,000 (wasted money) to round them up and one by one cram them into make shift gas chambers on the back of trucks and gas them. It takes upwards of an hour or more of suffering before the geese will die if they go first round. This was done in Mount Laurel, NJ and the mayor said he'd never do it again. It did not solve the issue. The following year more geese were back. It was done in NY and it did not solve the issue. More geese came back. It's not only squandering of money but it is also inhumane. It's teach our youth that it's ok to kill someting to solve a problem. It's not ok. We need to teach our children how to co-exist with wildlife not destroy it. I'm asking my Yorkie Friends to please help us let our town know that killing geese is not acceptable and it will not solve the issue. More humane solutions are available, but they have failed to do their research. One of our committemen even suggested, that if a rescue group could relocat them that they would also require the birds be neutered and their wings clipped. That shows how much research has really been done. Neutere a bird? If that were possible don't you think parrot rescues world wide would be doing it prior to adopting? Please sign our petion on change.org and help us tell our township NO TO KILLING THE GEESE. BETTER SOLUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE. THANKS FOR CARING. | I tried but it's saying The server is misbehaving so I'll try again later. I am assuming that you are talking about the Canada Geese ? It makes me sick to think of this as they mate for life & basically stay within their family their whole lives even after taking a mate & the thought that people hunt them sickens me.. I Love the Canada Geese as they are so Majestic. I Love to see & hear them fly over , we call them the Girls because they are always sqalking , lol. We have them here in Idaho as well & there has been talk of this for 20 yrs but so far they have not done anything, Thank God ! |

| Thank you and yes we are talking about the Canadian Geese. It's disgusting what "we" do to all animals with our testing, and then like this we feed them and invite them to come and eat and stay and then when the population explodes we decide to kill them. Thank you for signing. |

| i signed it and when it asked why i stated because it is inhumain ...we might as well just bring back hitler and have geese concentration camps. really because there are other solutions. i hope the geese can be saved or dealt with in a different way.

| Did you know that when one goose in a flock is sick or injured that another healthy goose from the flock will stay back with it until gets better or dies & then will return to the flock ? |

| Thank You. I just wanted to come on and give a long overdue Thank you. I've been very busy with this project, flyers, FB page etc. and have not gotten a chance to get back on YT until just a day or so ago. Well, we were able to get almost 2000 signatures on the petion. I did flyers, and myself and three others passed them out around town. We hung them in stores, and we had calls constantly going into the rec director. The end result was we were able to get it stopped for now anyway. An attorney / animal lover has been doing extensive research and has been presenting options to our committee. We are hopeful that this issue will not be revisted again next year. It is just terrible to think that people would be willing to kill something so they can enjoy a beach for a few months out o the year. Thank you again to all that signed the petition. Elaine |
