YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Dock Jumping or Dock Diving the Sport Now I do this with all three of my dogs. And my Yorkie is always a big hit. You don't have to compete in an event - you can take classes - most competitions have an open dock time where you can learn the sport. WE occasionally will compete just for the fun of it. Here is what I suggest. The first most important thing is to develop toy drive - I have written about this before on here. And that starts best when you first get your puppy. Here is a pic of a high drive Yorkie. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater Then get them used to the water and swimming. Rivers lakes ponds - indoor doggy pools - backyard pools etc. Teach them to fetch and retrieve a water toy. That is a toy that floats in the water. This toy ideally is only used for water work. It will not be a chew toy - or one they can just play in the house with. Why? It builds up a specialness in the dogs mind of oh this toy = FUN Times. The first exposure is key. I have a video on here made in Trent Hills where we taught two or three of Ilonas' Yorkies to jump or dive. I will link here shortly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEZefrx1JLE And finally just have fun in the great outdoors with your dog. Large or small dock diving is open to all.

| I loved your video. It looks like everyone was having fun, and it's such a wonderful sport. I also watched your Dock Divers of Trent Hills videos. I love them both, but I especially liked the slow motion of Magic in Part Two. Gals and Dogs in Trent Hills is an awesome video, too. What fun to be surrounded by so many Yorkies and Magic. He is spectacular, and Razzle stole my heart long ago. You have so many beautiful videos capturing such precious moments. They are truly priceless. Keep these videos coming. I enjoy every one of them.

| so cute to watch, Lola was jumping and swimming yesterday, might do a bit today. Do you think a dog will jump that is not toy driven? Lola seems to like the water but I think she goes in only because she is so desperate to get to the toy. That girl would do anything to get to her toy

I do believe that toy drive is key. I envy you living right on a lake. Do you to watch out for Lola all the time you are outside? I know my guys would be on that dock all day n night

| lola is never outside without a leash the yard is very large and not totally fenced in. Lately I have taken to having a tie out about 25' attached to her harness when we are playing fetch this way if she starts to go in the wrong direction I can step on it. She likes to run down the steps to the lake and let the toy float off then sort of plop in after it. We have not had her diving in that much from the dock. We also just started kayaking on the lake with her, but she sits in the inside with me in her life vest and I keep a leash on it. I have to watch that she does not jump in.
