| Proud Momma Well Harley and I had an awesome agility class today! I just had to brag He's recently found his vocal chords and he's been rather barky in class, sometimes to a point that I can't get any work done or pay attention to the coach. It's taken lots of work to get him to simmer down and focus. Today he was GREAT! We started weaves and that went well, and we practiced the touch zones on the end of ramps etc. He also laid down on his mat quietly during breaks without completely disturbing the class. OK he barked a bit, but it was definitely bearable.

| You should brag about that. Sounds like Harley going to be a very obedient dog one of these days as he's had a very normal start.

| I'm so excited, I got really discouraged the last two weeks, because he was being so bad at class, but once we start working on the equipment it's a whole other story. He really is so energetic, and LOVES to jump on things. I think it also helped that I made him a new toy, it's like the super tug from heaven for him... lol

| So we had a great graduation class on Saturday, we're taking a break between sets of classes because its exam time, but we had a ball in class. the coach gave us our own private play area (in the small dog area) while the big dogs had the big area, and I had a tunnel, teeter, jump and weaves all to myself. The funny thing was Harley was just so excited he started taking all of it... lol. We use targets to teach a nose touch on the contact zones, and I had targets by the teeter, and he'd jump a jump and run to the target, touch it and look at me, it was hillarious... he was so puzzled, I'm sure he was thinking, "I don't get it, this target dispenses food when I touch it... why is it not giving me FOOD" lol.

| I've been thinking of starting my Gidget in agility. She is very energetic and loves learning new tricks, so I thought that might be a good outlet for her. Any advice? It sounds like your little one has really taken to it and loves it! |

I'm off to a job interview this morning, but PM me, I'm happy to share advice. I used to train horses so I've got a good training background and would happy to tell you all the things I've learned with Harley through this process. -Kendra

| Woohoo! Go Harley! Sounds like you are doing awesome. You are making me jealous -- I miss agility and our class ended in November. My trainer is on maternity leave right now so classes don't start til June. Is this your first agility class, or not? We didn't even get around to learning weaves or teeter. We practiced a bit on the teeter with the trainer holding it but nothing more than that.

| We start with little equipment. So our teeter isn't full size, it's perfect yorkie sized. As for the weaves, we do the two by two method, so right now Harley is going through two-four weaves at a time. It's all foundation stuff, there is a level two class that is more foundation, and then you transfer to the location that has all the real full size equipment.

| Awesome! I wish we would have had more foundation stuff that we learned first. I think it's sooo important as much as we (meaning us humans, LOL) want to get right on the equipment but everyone I've talked to says how important it is to establish the foundations first. We really only had two classes out of eight that were focused on foundations.
