To get my little one to eat, sometimes I'll play little games with her food. I'll take little pieces and throw it across the floor, or bounce it off the walls. She thinks it's a little game and starts eating the ones I toss.
She then starts just eating out of her dish.
Don't worry, they'll snap out of it and start eating when they want. I've never heard of a dog starving itself unless it was very ill, and you would know if they were ill.
