My pup stays in the kitchen when I work - (happily)...
But when I'm home in the evening - I just slap a belly band on him and let him have run of the house.
Even so, I still take it off and take him outside every couple hours - and he does go to the bathroom every time.
Most of the time (because we go outside often), his belly band is dry --- but not always. So, I am at least stopping most of the damage he might do.
Personally - I like my pup (10 months) - being able to run around the house. He has never been confined in any way (other than when I work - which he is used to), and I'm sure he'd cry and whine if I confined him somewhere when I am home. He just wouldn't like that at all.
