I had the surgery as soon as my feet stoped growing. I had pretty bad bunions and they said I would develop hammer toe in my other toes is I didn't have it fixed. It took me 6 weeks at least to be completely back on my feet. It did hurt some and mine was worse because I found out when I left the hospital I was allergic to codine, the pain killer they had given me. The drugs helped thoough once we found one I could take. One thing I would recommend...my doctor had me rewrap my feet every week. If I were you I would have the doctor or nurse rewrap them if neccessary as I think I didn't do mine quite right and now my feet aren't as perfect as I would like them to be. It will go fine. Just go out and get lots of movies and books to keep you occupied for a while.
