I think it's cause they are so low to the ground. Yorkies' are so short their coats collect some of the dust and stuff their or our feet churn up when walking and they are usually so short they bring in whatever in on the top of the grass in their coats, including pollen, dust, leaves, and whatever else might be clinging to or laying in/on the grass. Big dogs bodies are way above the floor and ground so only their paws and lower legs tend to collect the dirt, etc. our babies head, leg and body hair grabs up. Those long coats are like little dust mops! I notice the shorter Tibbe's hair is, the cleaner he stays longer.
