Lovetodream88, as you say, there never are words that make the sadness better, only time can slowly help. I agree that having a new baby to focus on is often healing, and in the past we have gone that route. For some reason this time I am just not ready.
Also with both my husband any myself in our mid-70's I would not get a young puppy as much as I would dearly love to have one. The chances would be too great that the little one would outlive us even though we are currently in good health and active. Having worked in the past as a foster home for both NESR and Tri-State Sheltie Rescue, I know all too well how hard it is to find new loving home for senior doggies who have lost their family.
