Cody is 12 pounds so I got the size large so he could curl up and lie down. This has been a life saver for me, no more car sickness and he now LOVES going in the car. He can see out of the window and sits like a king on a throne.
wanted to add, there is a short lead attached to the booster seat that attaches to the harness to keep him IN the booster seat. A strap that goes around the head rest and a strap that goes around the back of the seat that holds the booster seat in place. Several ppl have seen Cody in his booster seat and although their dogs did not get car sick they did get a booster seat just so their pups can see out of the windows.
