Depends on your local jurisdiction, the risk of not having a current dog license. Keep your proof of rabies vaccination handy in case you have any kind of incident that would require it, i.e. biting a human or another dog, or any altercation.
Personally, I would wait to vaccinate until fall and just keep the vaccination record readily available.
