The bill passed the House and will now go to the Iowa Senate.

Breaking news ? Whistle-blower videos of animal abuse banned by Iowa House - National Animal Policy | Examiner.com

I think what's important to remember is that many of these videos are not about about *abuse* at these farms, but rather day-to-day operations. Factory farms have grown exponentially in the last 50 years and bear no resemblance to what most of us would imagine. They offer cheap food due not only to the economics of scale, but also due to government subsidies...to the tune of tens of billions of dollars. On a level playing field, traditional (more humane) farms could compete but don't get the tax breaks and subsidies that corporate farmers get. No wonder the industry is up in arms about efforts to expose them for what they really are. It's a HUGE can of worms.

Here's some links that offer a glimpse into the life of the typical chicken, pig and cow on today's large-scale farms. It ain't pretty, but folks need to know the reality of our agriculture 'industry'.
