I've read on here after much persistance, a few yorkie moms were able to convince the vet to release them after surgery. You just have to sign a consent form or something.

One last thing, if you can, plan his neuter closer to the weekend so you have a few days to really watch him. (if you work) If you can, schedule the neuter for a Thursday, take Friday off, and you'll have an extra day to watch him.
