Does anyone other than me carry pepper spray with them when they walk?

I'm not afraid of my neighborhood dogs (well, most of them any way) but we do back up to open space and another subdivision. We've had strange dogs running through here recently (along with the odd bear). The other night, a pitbull mix and german shepard came running up on to my porch while my husband was taking Rhett out before bed- luckily he's a big guy and was able to scare them off (with Rhett barking furiously the whole time).
