People think I am crazy for not adopting to people with doggy doors, but this is why. I have seen so many instances of this over the years...and also with dogs being attacked by coyotes. Not to mention stolen out of yards.
Actually, it really could happen with you standing there, but less likely. I do not let my pups outside unattended. I stopped a hawk from snatching one of mine one day. That bird was circling and I noticed it was getting lower....by the time I realized what was going on and ran across the yard, he was only a few feet away. It was a little yorkie whose leg had to be amputated (a foster) and he had just come home from the surgery, so I guess he looked like prey to that hawk.
I am in a Houston suburb and it is not rural! so...yes, they are everwhere! |
