We free-feed all 3 of our dogs (Yorkie, Poodle & Chihuahua). Food and water are available whenever they want it. They eat whenever they feel like it (which is usually when we're eating dinner
) and stop when they're full.
I don't see Yorkies as being those kind of dogs that eat just to eat. I think yours would be just fine w/ it.
