I am no expert, but I think the vet can do a sonogram to "check for life" very early on in the pregnancy.
X Ray is usually a week or so prior to delivery to verify how many puppies, how many breech, and if mom looks like she is going to have any problems.

I would call and ask, or seek a second vets if your vet is not equipped with a sono. Not every vet is experienced with yorkies and the small size of the pups.

It is not worth chancing the life of your dam or the pups by just waiting...
