My dogs are vocal, but know exactly when they can be and when they can't. At first we had barking/whining problems, but just filled a soda can with pennies and shake it when they want them to be quiet, along with the quiet command. Then treat them. Within a single day, they figured it out. Now, they only bark when it is play time or when they are trying to warn me of visitors/weird noises/etc. I know people say that Yorkies are "yappers" and it annoys me to no end! I think with persistence and positive reinforcement you can train your dogs to do anything! |
