I guess it depends on which "Lookout" you're talking about. If it is one of the less expensive brands where the back is held on the seat by the headrest, it won't work in the backseat unless you have a headrest to drape it over.

The Snoozer brand carseats are much different than the other "lookouts". Most of the pups feel much more secure in the Snoozers and actually enjoy them. They are intended for the backseat, unless you can turn off an airbag or specifically have the console version.
