I make and sell bows and I get that question a lot. For some reason men seem to think that we women will put a frilly pink bow in a boy's hair!
The key is "manly" bows. I have two pages of boy bows on my website so you can see what I mean. The football bow customized in his team colors is a great ice breaker.
