I'm sure he'll be ok. A year or so ago, Max kept bringing little dead dried up turtles into the house from the back yard. Our neighbor had a female turtle and it came to our house to lay it's eggs I guess....anyhow, it was too hot for the little guys to survive for long (they were red eared sliders..aquatics), I just took them out of his mouth and put them in the garbage. He brought one in toward the end of us living there and it was still alive, so I got an aquarium and set him up in it....the next day, I found another one in the pool, so I had 2. They were really fun, but they outgrew their aquarium and I decided instead of buying a bigger one, I'd donate them to my neighbor's pond in her back yard, LOL, so that's where they are.
Anyway, Max never got sick from carrying them around. I do know that they carry bacteria, so I wouldn't let him play with them voluntarily
