It doesn't matter what type of puppy or dog...when they pass away the hurt is still the same. I'm so very sorry. I really don't know anything to suggest in regards to Petco, other than you would probably need an autopsy performed to really determine what killed him.
Again my deepest condolences on the loss of Patchino. May he RIP and may time heal the hurt.
