I take Obie everywhere I think I can get away with. He rides in a "Sherpa" bag, and the only people who realize it isn't a big handbag are those who have done the same thing themselves. Obie goes to restaurants, stores, parties, movies, meetings, and is usually perfectly quiet. The only thing that will blow it is the presence of another dog, which he will bark at, and then we are busted.
One time I was in a nice restaurant with friends, and Obie started to bark. I realized that he was barking at this own reflection in a glass door, and moved him so he couldn't see it, and he quieted down. I expected that we would be asked to leave, but nothing happened. As we were leaving the restaurant, the waitress came running after me with a small piece of steak, and said "One of the customers couldn't finish this, and said to give it to your little dog." |
